Syonopsys:
This is an industrial subject of unusual merit, and the interest is sustained right to the end. The picture opens with a panoramic view of the mills, and we then see huge logs of wood being wheeled in on trucks and then cut into uniform size by means of a huge circular saw. Passing through the works one is struck with the large amount of machinery in use, in fact manual labour is used as little as possible. Rags are sorted by girls, but then, after viewing the pulping apparatus at work, we see the paper passing out of the machine, looking for all the world like endless linen sheets or curtains. An interesting demonstration is that showing how rolls of strip paper are made. Contrary to expectation the paper is made up into one long roll, say 6 ft. in lenght, and is then sliced up crosswise into rolls of the width required. The concluding pictures show the paper being packed at lightning speed by nimble fingered womens. A personal note is added to the end of the film where are seen the children of the workers being brought out from their crĂȘche after their mothers work is done. It's a fine film.
