On his way to work a builder mails a letter that will arrive in a little mountain village. It includes news and impressions of the big city (Rome) and of the men who go there in search of work. The village is poor, whereas the city is rich; but it is not peaceful and everything is in a hurry. In some of these letters there is nostalgia for the distant and peaceful town. The reading of the letters is the guiding thread for a series of images depicting a tragic dimension of contemporary civilization where everything happens in a rush.
