Usually every year around the beginning of May, laborers from the mountains in the regions of Abruzzo, Marche and Umbria go to Rome looking for a temporary job. In fact, on the mountains where they live the harvesting season has not started yet, while in the Roman countryside hay is ready to be cut. The workers, with personal belongings in hand, reach the Pantheon square, a meeting point for agricultural employment in Rome; they sometimes stay there for more than a day waiting to be hired. They then pass their days working for the farmers who have temporarily employed them until the beginning of June when the laborers return to their mountains.
